Filing a complaint
The Internal Affairs Division can be reached at 281-334-5414. When you contact the office, an IAD investigator will explain the process in order to file a complaint. The IAD office is located at 1401 TX-146 Kemah, Texas 77565, within the police department. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Persons with disabilities and unable to travel, can contact the office for assistance.
When you come into the Kemah Police Department, you will need to bring your official state or government-issued photo ID with you in order to provide a sworn statement concerning your complaint.
KPD welcomes your compliments, complaints, and suggestions. If you have a concern or want to praise a police officer or member of the police department for their actions, please complete the form below. A member of the command staff will contact you.
The Kemah Police Department will accept complaints, including incidents of racial profiling, against any member of the department. The department will investigate all complaints thoroughly; however complaints made against members of the department that are false in nature may subject the complainant to criminal and/or civil charges.
An IAD investigator will take a sworn statement from the complainant and any witnesses to the incident.
After a complainant provides IAD with a sworn statement, an internal affairs investigation will be opened to properly vet the complaint.
